+ The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) began the spillage of excess water from the Weija Dam at 6:00 a.m. yesterday as announced in a statement it issued in Accra on Monday evening. The spillage, it said, had become necessary because of the sudden rise of the level of the dam from 46.2 feet to 48.1 feet within a 24-hour period. “Management of GWCL is also informing the general public, as well as institutions and organisations that have properties downstream of the imminent danger and therefore must take the necessary precautionary measures. Affected areas include Tetegu, Oblogo, Pambros Salt, Lower McCarthy Hill, Lower Weija, Bojo Beach, Ada Kopey and surrounding communities,” it said.

Government’s free water supply to Ghanaians ends by December 31, 2020 29th Dec 2020    |    Source: GBCGhana Online The Ghana Water Company Limited says it will end the free water supply for Ghanaians by 31st December 2020 which was part of effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. In a statement signed by the Public Relations Manager of Company, Stanley Mantey indicated that the payment of the water bills will now be the responsibility of customers. The Company assured the public that its meter reading officers and officials will have the company ID and also adhere to all the safety protocols before entering their premises to discharge their duties.
