The report, published by Stanley Area Youth Consortium, found that young people in the area were experiencing increased anxiety, social isolation and worry about the future, with girls faring worse than boys. In total 231 young children were interviewed for the report, which targeted those aged seven to 18-years old. Now Oxhill Youth Club, Stanley Area Young People’s Club and Stars Youth and Community have joined together to provide counselling, support and a positive programme of activities to combat these issues.
A NORTH-East town is coming together to fundraise for a brighter future. Police officers, schoolchildren, charities, and businesses are preparing to Stand Out for Stanley on Friday, April 30 to raise money for the Stanley Community Fund. By dressing up, dressing down and putting the fun into community fundraising, local people hope to put Stanley on the map and celebrate the achievements of recent years. To prepare for Stand Out for Stanley Day, local businesses are invited to attend a virtual event on Friday, April 16 from 10am to 11am to find out more. Kevan Jones, Labour MP for North Durham will speak, alongside other well-known members of the community, about the future of the town and how people can connect to the Fund.
A FUNDING pot for good causes and community organisations is calling for applicants in the Stanley area A FUNDING pot for good causes and community organisations is calling for applicants in the Stanley area. The Stanley Community Fund is welcoming bids from groups for grants between £2,000 and £10,000 to fund projects that will benefit people and communities in and around the County Durham town. The fund was initially set up in 2019 and is supported by Stanley Town Council, as an innovative way to try to maximise funding into the Stanley Town Council area. In year one of the fund, more than £120,000 was available to groups for projects within the Stanley Area.
