The Stanislaus Farm Supply will reopen on Monday, a week after a sulfur fire at the farmer-owned cooperative’s warehouse in Ceres led to a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding area for several hours as a precaution due to the risk of hazardous air quality.
A sulfur fire at the Stanislaus Farm Supply in Ceres that led to a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding area for several hours on Monday was ignited by sparks from a lightbulb being changed by workers, the Modesto Fire Department said Tuesday.
“If you are in a 1-mile radius of 624 E. Service Rd in Ceres, the air quality is potentially hazardous due to a hazardous materials incident,” the Stanislaus County Office of Emergency Services said.
