Oregon State cornerback Nahshon Wright goes in third round to Dallas Cowboys in 2021 NFL draft

Nahshon Wright was the first Oregon State player tabbed in the 2021 NFL draft when the Dallas Cowboys tabbed the junior cornerback in the third round, the 99th overall pick.
Wright is the earliest Beaver draft pick since 2016, when Isaac Seumalo went No. 79 overall to Philadelphia. The last time Dallas drafted someone from Oregon State was 2019, when defensive end Victor Butler went in the fourth round.

Wright is the fourth OSU player selected in an NFL draft since Jonathan Smith became coach in 2018. During last year’s draft, three Beavers went in the sixth round.

Saints GM Mickey Loomis said, Yeah, look, I think we always pay attention to prototype players that meet the height, weight, speed parameters that we have in our league.

Five cornerbacks were chosen in Thursday’s first round of the NFL draft. Former Cal standout Camryn Bynum was not among them and isn’t expected to be chosen on Friday, when the second and third rounds are held.
More likely, Bynum will be picked up a team Saturday during the fourth through seventh rounds.
Cal coach Justin Wilcox, talking Thursday morning with Guy Haberman and Geoff Schwartz on Sirius XM Radio, said there is a lot for NFL teams to like about Bynum, starting with the person he is.
