all right. very nice to see you. how exciting is this. you saw off the top who s going to be here. i know a lot of you are going to be about what s going to be happening on the next season of walking dead. but this guy was, as you know, called a borderline psychotic, and that was to promo his show. what is that like? that s the story of howie mandell. here s his story. the loneliest place ever is if you re a standup comic. but it was the perfect job for somebody like howie mandell. growing up in toronto in the
guests he s interviewed. since the show s title shares his name i had to ask about that first. it s been my name for my entire life. you couldn t make that name up. there are times i fill out a form and have to recalibrate and go what am i doing because it s so unwieldy my name. now america is going to have to get used to saying that because that is the name of the new show airing on cnn premiering this sunday at 10:00 p.m. called stroumboulopoulos and friday night at 11:00 p.m.. george what can we expect from your new show? how is it different from the rest of the late night shows? i m not a standup comic. i ll try to make you laugh from time to time but i m not driven by the funny. that s not my reason for being so i don t have that pressure to go to the joke. i m more interested in the long forum conversations and i think cnn is the perfect home because the things cnn values, the things that i value that i know a large segment of the audience values is a human connection and
ferguson and give obama his own late night show because he is great at that. but, obviously, i don t know if he could do a late night show because he might miss curtain call. you know, can you sleep through benghazi, can you sleep through the opening of a show. but as i watched all the fawning ache lights in the acolytes in the press core look up to him i finally figured it out ohe is frank sin that sinatra and the press is peter lawford now. bathed in reflective glory. when he they re alone they are bore lot. the difference between this man when is he on prompter like that at a gig and this man at a press conference where he is off the prompter, there are people on dialysis who aren t that dependent on the machinery in their life. i was watching that press conference the other day, he was saying eh, eh, eh, i thought it was a nightclub act. i will give him this, he is a great standup comic.
