Omega s Latest Moonwatch Shines With the Caliber 3861

Text size Omega kicked off the new year by upgrading one of watchmaking’s true icons, the Speedmaster Moonwatch, with the caliber 3861, a state-of-the-art movement delivering Master Chronometer performance that meets the highest standards of precision and magnetic-resistance in the industry. The 3861 will replace the workhorse Calibre 1861 in standard production Moonwatches after five decades. The new Speedmaster MoonwatchMaster Chronometer lineup consists of eight new 42mm models. In stainless steel with a black dial, you can choose between a sapphire crystal version on strap (US$6,800) or bracelet (US$7,150), and a Hesalite crystal (a tough, clear acrylic that is flatter) on nylon fabric strap (US$5,950) or bracelet (US$6,300).

FAA Issues Long-Anticipated Rules for Commercial Drones

Updated Dec. 28, 2020 9:25 pm ET U.S. regulators established industrywide requirements for remote identification of drones, along with new safeguards for flights over populated areas and at night, in a long-awaited effort to expand commercial use of the craft. The pair of final rules issued Monday is intended to promote eventual widespread home delivery of small packages and a multitude of other applications for pilotless vehicles that are currently sharply restricted. But with a single announcement, the Federal Aviation Administration is formally pivoting from approving case-by-case exemptions to setting broad safety standards the industry has long sought. The new approach, replacing stringent protections that currently bar practically all home-delivery options, goes into effect in two months, but some requirements are likely to take years to implement.
