with pointing out problems with walt nauta s attempts to delay the hearing. one of them was nauta s lawyers security clearance, or lack thereof at this point. what do we know about that? is it just another delay tactic on the part of nauta? i think it s true. i think stand woodward has not yet completed the paperwork to get his clearance and review the classified evidence, and have the doj as part of this aggressive timeline that they have set for the december trial. they need the trump and nauta attorneys to have clearance, at least interim clearances so that they can look at these large volumes of classified evidence that occurred in this case. they have already said that as soon as they get the file for these clearances, we have a mountain of classified materials that we can show them right away where they can start reviewing it and come up with the defense strategy. until stand with where it gets that in interim initial clearance, not even a permanent clearance, just a first step
on july 18th. a difference of four days. stand woodward is not going to get interim security clearance by then, so we know that that was a bs excuse, right? and suddenly maybe local council on behalf of walt nauta can appear when she could ve done on friday. they re all the practical realities here. so when do you think judge cannon is going to rule on that motion now that we know that everybody stipulates from trump to the doj, to now to, that july 18th works for everybody? it will depend on her calendar. but i think we will see it pretty quickly. this is been a couple of days, at this point, katie. we ve talked about that. it s not a mountain, maybe it s a molehill in terms of the amount of time. but the reality is that this conference is not substantive. it is about calendar dates, it s about scheduling the classified discovery across this. it s about understanding how it will work, so you don t have to have a clearance in order to
so it will be the challenge for the prosecution in this case to make sure that this jury does not have that one holdout that s going to ruin this case. now, there s a lot that s going to happen between now and then, but that s how i view the jury dynamic here. mr. jimenez, appreciate your time. thank you so much. i want to go to paula reid standing by with new information. paula? reporter: that s right, anderson. former president trump s co-defendant walt nauta has also arrived here at the court as has his attorney stand woodward. walt arrived here with the former president in his moto motorcade, he s actually been with trump since around the time the indictment came down, he s kept him very close in the fold. anderson, i m told by a source close to the former president that he s gotten better about keeping people who could potentially be used as a witness against him or could pose legal problems, he s gotten better about keeping them in the fold. i am told he learned lessons from
