Will Confederate marker in Collierville s Town Square be moved?

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen gave a resident its blessing to discuss solutions for the Confederate marker in Town Square with the United Daughters of Confederacy.  Our next step, we feel, is to meet with some of the people at the bottom of the sign, Jordan said to the board. To meet with those people and come to the table and all of us sit down and talk. Mayor Stan Joyner said no one on the board opposed the idea. Some residents and activists have called for the marker to be moved into a museum. Jordan and three other residents have met with Town Administrator James Lewellen once a month for the past eight months to talk about solutions for the marker.

Collierville to keep Confederate marker in town square

Author: Otis Sanford (Local 24) Published: 4:49 PM CDT July 20, 2021 Updated: 6:14 PM CDT July 20, 2021 COLLIERVILLE, Tennessee There appears to be no appetite at all among government leaders in Collierville for removing a Confederate monument that some view as offensive and others see as historic. Every so often, opponents complain about the marker in the publicly-owned town square.
