Fort Smith Times Record
Fort Smith Public Schools held a vaccination clinic at Ben Geren Tornado Shelter on Friday, Jan. 22, and used the opportunity to offer up to 400 doses for district staff which included substitutes, hourly and contract workers. All 400 doses were administered to teachers, educators and other employees.
Due to cancellations of initial sign-ups, the clinic was able to accommodate all those who were on the waiting list. The rest of Fort Smith Public School employees who want to receive the vaccine will be accommodated at a later clinic yet to be scheduled.
According to the Arkansas Department of Health, teachers are eligible for the vaccine during the 1-B phase of distribution which began on Jan. 18.
