Bothwell Recognizes Staff During National Nurses Week
Bothwell Regional Health Center recognized nominees and presented Nurse of the Year and Nursing Support Person of the Year awards and a DAISY Award May 6 during National Nurses Week.
The recipients of the Pat Gaunt Nursing and Hickman Excellence scholarships were also announced by the Bothwell Foundation.
National Nurses Week highlights the contributions of nurses from all over the world and the strength and fortitude they have demonstrated through the challenges of the last year. Each year, Nurses Week begins on May 6 and ends May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This year’s theme was “The Year of the Nurse.

A grieving mother said she had “nowhere left to turn” after dozens of possible venues for a funeral service near London refused to let her invite more than 30 mourners, despite England’s coronavirus restrictions being about to change.
Stacey O’Donnell, whose 19-year-old son, Tai O’Donnell, was stabbed to death in his home in Croydon on 3 March, said she was “shattered” by her attempts to find a venue for the service.
She had delayed the funeral until after 17 May, when the government’s limit on mourners is to be lifted allowing any number of people to gather as long as venues can comply with social distancing. She wanted to invite 50-60 guests whose lives “had been touched by Tai”.

The death has occurred of Joseph Flood of Sarsfield Avenue, Garryowen, Limerick. Joseph, died (peacefully) at the Good Counsel Nursing Home. Son of the late Patrick and the recently deceased Christina (Lila) and brother of the late Patricia. Regretted by his cousins, friends and neighbours. A private Requiem Mass for family and relatives, will take place at 11am on Tuesday (May 4th) in St. John s Cathedral. Mass will be streamed live. Funeral afterwards to Mount St. Oliver Cemetery. In compliance with the current HSE guidelines, the funeral will be limited to 25 people. Please ensure social distancing and public health advice is adhered.
