district leaders have met with stakeholders and the Deschutes County Public Health Department to
discuss how best to get students back on site for in-person instruction.
It’s important to us that students receive in-person instruction we know students learn better in person
and we know how hard it’s been for them over these nine long months of distance learning. We also are
increasingly seeing evidence that transmission rates in schools are quite low compared to other settings,
in part due to the strict health and safety protocols that schools are expected to employ.
As a result, we are going to begin the process of bringing students back into the classrooms. All

Central Oregon Community College professor Stacey Donohue
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) Central Oregon Community College is proud to announce that English professor Stacey Donohue, Ph.D., was selected to receive the Modern Language Association’s 2020 Francis Andrew March Award, a national postsecondary honor that recognizes distinguished service to the profession of English.
Donohue will receive the award at a Saturday virtual ceremony.
Named for the nation’s first postsecondary English professor (who taught at Lafayette College), the Francis Andrew March Award honors the English scholar and teacher “who accepts responsibility for strengthening the life and work of departments, the field and the English studies community considered as a whole.”
