Friends of Catholic Education, a Frederick County-based nonprofit organization, presented its Teaching Award of Excellence at the organization’s 24th Annual Teacher Appreciation Dinner. All four recipients of the award are graduates of Mount St. Mary’s University.
The Mount St. Mary’s University Office of Competitive Fellowships announced that seniors Anne Frederick and Jenna Lewaren have been offered highly competitive Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships to study, pursue research and teach in Italy and Germany, respectively.
Five Mount St. Mary’s University seniors have been named semifinalists for the highly competitive 2022-23 Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Rebekah Balick, Paige Buchanan, Betsy Busch, Anne Frederick and Jenna Lewaren are one step away from attaining a grant that would allow them to continue their academic pursuits in Spain, Ireland, Bulgaria, Italy and Germany, respectively.

Mount St. Mary’s University will add a Master of Science degree and certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to its graduate degree offerings, aligning with the growing demand for skilled professionals in psychology, education and the health professions. The Maryland Higher Education Commission, the coordinating board responsible for establishing statewide policies for Maryland public and private colleges and universities, approved the Mount’s proposal in November 2020, and the Mount anticipates launching the program in Fall 2021.
ABA is a discipline concerned with the application of behavioral science in real-world settings such as clinics, schools and industry with the aim of improving socially important issues such as behavior problems and learning.
