FOUR academically gifted children recently completed their LGCSE or O-level education will this week leave the country for a one-year programme at the Star Leadership Academy (SLA) in Zimbabwe under Econet Telecom Lesotho’s HigherLife Foundation.
The scholarship caters for current HigherLife Foundation beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries as long as they are academically brilliant.
Katleho Mokhele from St Stephen’s High School in Mohale’s Hoek and Lebohang Kome from Dahon High School in Berea have been under the HigherLife scholarship while Refiloe Makhakhe from Butha-Buthe High School and Selumeli Thulo from Hope High School in Mafeteng were selected for the programme.
The new ‘digital doctor’
MASERU-Growing up in Mohlakeng in Mohale’s Hoek in the 1990s, Rorisang Motlomelo never entered dreams of becoming a doctor or a lawyer like many girls her age.
All she wanted was to resolve people’s problems.
When she completed her high school at St Stephen’s High School in Mohale’s Hoek in 2007, Motlomelo packed her bags and left for Maseru where she was to study for an Honours degree in Software Engineering and Multimedia at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
It was the beginning of the fulfilment of a life-long dream to use technology to promote business.
