CHICAGO (WLS) For the second year in a row, St. Patrick s Day is looking a little different in Chicago. The big parades and events have been canceled.
Normally, those are big performances for the Trinity Irish Dancers. This year, the dancers are doing some performances with social distancing and are offering virtual performances. They re also donating performances to healthcare workers.
The St. Patrick s Day performances will include:
11:30 a.m., Swedish Covenant Hospital, 5140 N. California, Chicago
2:45 p.m., Rush Medical Center, 1620 W. Harrison, Chicago
3 p.m., O Sullivan Public House, 7244 Madison St., Forest Park
5 p.m., Elmhurst Brewing Company, 171 N. Addison Ave., Elmhurst
City investigators will expand their checks with a focus on stiffer penalties. We ve communicated with all of them. They should know the guidelines, so if we pop in and you re having a party with a DJ and everybody s dancing, no masks, party is going to be terminated pretty quickly, said Rosa Escareno, Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection commissioner.
A warning from the city of Chicago about St. Patrick s Day celebrations this weekend.
While the city would usually be fully celebrating with decorations, popular strips like River North are sparsely decorated. In Wrigleyville, Sluggers owner Zach Strauss embraced mitigation efforts to keep customers safe.
