Cheryl Cork s pots are made from clay from the Old Tannery in Holt | The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald

CLAY from the Old Tannery in Holt has been used to make pots. Local potter Cheryl Cork seized her chance when she saw the tannery was being redeveloped for business units and 44 new homes. She asked if she could take some clay from ground being dug during the redevelopment of the buildings. Cheryl, 69, of Lions Orchard, Holt, made six vessels from the clay, which she says contains iron deposits. The clay is a very dark rich red, which I imagine means it contains lots of iron in it. It was very orange and green and I had no idea of what it would look like when I fired it.
