KOCHI: Intelligence Bureau and Kerala Police have started to dig into Kerala connections of All Ceylon Makkal Congress leader and parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen after he was arrested by Sri Lankan Police on April 24 in connection with April 2019 Easter Sunday attacks that killed 279 people and injured hundreds.
While the specifics of the links which Bathiudeen had in Kerala are yet to be revealed, the agencies will be looking into the inputs on his visit to Kasaragod in 2009 and also his acquaintance with a few religious leaders in Kerala, who had met him in Sri Lanka and also when he toured India especially Chennai when he was Sri Lanka’s Minister for Industry and Commerce in 2013.

Sri Lankan Police on Saturday arrested a former minister and his brother for allegedly aiding and abetting the suicide bombers responsible for the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks in which 258 people, including 11 Indians, were killed.
Rishad Bathiudeen, the leader of a minority Muslim party that is part of the main Opposition party, the SJB, and his brother Riyaj Bathiudeen were arrested from their respective residences.
“They have been arrested under the provisions of the prevention of terrorism Act based on direct, circumstantial and scientific evidence, Ajith Rohana, the senior deputy inspector general who is also the police spokesman, said.

Colombo (News 1st); The Mayor of Jaffna Visvalingam Manivannan was arrested by Sri Lankan Police on Friday (09) for employing five people and providing them with a uniform similar to what was worn by the so-called LTTE police.
The LTTE is a proscribed organization and therefore is it prohibited to display any material that promotes the LTTE, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.
Investigations carried out by the Terrorist Investigation Division and Jaffna Police revealed the five people were temporarily employed by the Jaffna Mayor and he had assigned them to a certain task while proving them with the said uniform.
