Manoj Das (1934-2021)
BHUBANESWAR: Manoj Das, one of Odisha’s best known writers, passed away on Tuesday at Aurobindo Ashram in Puducherry due to old-age related ailments. The 87-year-old novelist, poet, columnist, fiction and travel writer, was also a bold commentator on social issues and an amazing storyteller. As a bilingual writer he was prolific in both English and Odia and was a household name in the state. He has written hundreds of books and countless articles in newspapers.
Tributes poured in for the acclaimed writer from all sections of society. “He will continue to inspire generations through his timeless literary works,” Odisha governor Ganeshi Lal said following the news of his death.
