Thereâs been a late twist in the battle for homegrown cyber group and Department of Defence contractor Penten.
Street Talk can reveal Sydney-based private equity firm Five V Capital has moved to the front of the chasing pack, unseating earlier frontrunner and rival Colinton Capital Partners.
Five V, advised by law firm Gilbert + Tobin, is understood to be in exclusive talks, with its dealmakers headed by Adrian MacKenzie and Srdjan Dangubic trying to agree terms with Pentenâs founder/management shareholders, who are advised by PwC.

Global investor KKR takes majority stake in Education Perfect

Global investment firm KKR has taken a majority stake in Education Perfect that values the New Zealand-based edtech company at $NZ455 million ($424 million).
The investment comes from KKR’s US$7.2 billion Global Impact fund, aimed at advancing the United Nation’s sustainable development goals. Australia-based private equity firm Five V Capital took a stake in the company in 2017 and will remain a shareholder alongside its co-founders, brothers Craig and Shane Smith.
“For-profit but also purposeful and kind” is how Education Perfect CEO Alex Burke describes the New Zealand-based edtech company.
