Parking mayhem in Tullamore becoming a major safety hazard Reporter: );   ); Residents in Tullamore have expressed anger over the ongoing issue of unsafe parking by the canal on the road by motorists when going for a walk in the area. One resident on the Sragh Road told the Tribune that they contacted the council who said they were aware of the issues. The resident claims nothing has been done to rectify the situation. The issues have become worse with people blocking up the entrance to our street now and the entrance road has become a carpark for these people who also are dumping their rubbish now in our street.

In her early working life she worked in Salts factory until she met and married Danny Egan and moved to Mountbolus in the early 1940s. Molly worked very hard raising a family of six children. She cycled to Tullamore every week to get her provisions for her family, sometimes with two children on board as there was little or no cars around in those days. Molly saw a lot of change in her lifetime including the introduction of electricity into the home, getting a TV, telephone and running water. She was a great woman for baking and renowned for her soda bread.

Offaly canal parking problems a major safety hazard Reporter: );   ); THE need for a car park to facilitate walkers using the popular Grand Canal Greenway during the lockdown has been highlighted. A motorist, who uses the Sragh Road in Tullamore on a regular basis, described the parking situation as a “major safety hazard” particularly when vehicles parked on both sides of the road. “My intention is to raise the safety concerns and pose the questions in a visible public forum because I am not seeing it taken seriously by public representatives,” the motorist, whose identity is known to the Tribune, pointed out in a statement issued last week.
