New Calhoun Street Regional Dock now open
Bluffton Today
The overhauled and improved Calhoun Street Regional Dock in Bluffton is now fully open to the public.
The new public dock consists of a bulkhead, 130-foot boardwalk, 20-by-20-foot covered pier head, and 120-foot floating dock that can accommodate about 10 boats at a time.
In 2017, the town began replacing the new dock s 60-foot predecessor that was built in the 1970s. The town has said it only allowed for about four small boats at once.
A public dock has been located at the end of Calhoun Street since the early 1800s and has been central to local commerce, bringing products and people from the May River to the center of Bluffton, according to the town.

Bluffton Today
After three years of construction and renovation, Wright Family Park at the May River end of Calhoun Street is open to pedestrians.
Pedestrians can now access the greenspace portion of the 1.27-acre property, which features sidewalks, benches and live oak canopies along the river view. Christmas lights and other holiday aesthetics have been placed throughout the park.
Adjacent construction on Calhoun Street is expected to continue through early 2021. The final phase of work planned for Wright Family Park is the addition of a plaza and turnaround at the end of Calhoun Street and the last stages of the mostly-completed Calhoun Street Regional Dock replacement project.
