Mourning the loss of best-selling spy novelist John le Carré
This letter is regarding the demise of the 89-year-old British author, David Cornwell, who is popularly known as John le Carré (“ British spy thriller author John le Carre dies aged 89”, Gulf News, December 14). His passing is a great loss to the literary world. His most famous works spanned some six decades and included The Spy Who Came In Form the Cold, which was published in 1963 and made le Carré the most famous spy writer in the world. His passing is an irrecoverable loss, and millions of his readers will miss him. His name will be remembered forever. May his soul rest in peace.

(CNN) Best-selling British espionage writer David Cornwell known to the world as John Le Carré died Saturday at 89, according to his literary agent.
Cornwell s family said in a statement that he died from pneumonia. He is survived by his wife, Jane, and four sons. I represented David for almost 15 years. I have lost a mentor, an inspiration and most importantly, a friend, said Jonny Geller, CEO of literary agency The Curtis Brown Group. We will not see his like again.
Described by Geller as the undisputed Giant of English literature, Le Carré wrote 26 books that have been published in over 50 countries and 40 languages, according to his official website.

The best-selling British spy writer died from pneumonia on Saturday (December 12) at the age of 89-years-old, his literary agent shared with CNN.
“I represented David for almost 15 years. I have lost a mentor, an inspiration and most importantly, a friend,” said
Jonny Geller, CEO of literary agency The Curtis Brown Group. “We will not see his like again.”
Over his 60-year career,
John has written 26 books, including hits “The Spy Who Came In Form the Cold,” “Tinker Tailor Solider Spy,” and “A Most Wanted Man.”
John is survived by his wife
Jane and their four sons.
