which is why you saw when this came down to it yesterday, there were not a lot of make the debates. traditionally there have been issues about needing to share data in order to be able to have the information to set prices accurately. but there s always been a difference between sharing historical data and doing projections and trend lines going forward. in other words, you want to know the probability that certain diseases and injuries are going to occur and how much those might cost. but that s very different than wanting to say, going forward, how can we agree on how much we should charge for this. all right. simple bill, bipartisan support. great news. that sets us up on a good tone. a bill aimed at boosting job growth is heading to the house after clearing the senate yesterday. with the help of 13 republicans. i m telling you, pieces breaking out. i don t know why there weren t more. $15 billion is aimed at tax breaks for businesses that hire the unemployed. what s
she called it tears of frustration. she said the organization totally botched it. they shouldn t have released her and let her go down. she does, the good news, get another crack at the course today. but there s a little rivalry, too. it s interesting. between vonn and mancuso. they don t get along all that well. there was some implication in some of mancuso s remarks that vonn should have gotten off the course a little quicker. so she s mad that vonn i think it s very selfish of vonn to fall down the way she did and blow her chance at a gold medal. and then, of course, i think this was excessive of vonn. break her finger. really, now. that may be over the top. so she was crying there, though, because they put up the yellow flag. that means she can t do it again, right? that s it for her. . reporter: well, they sent her back to the top of the course so she had to run 31st and the course was all torn up.
states senators which is rare in my lifetime. gave him an 80-vote margin in the house of representatives. and he s not getting it done. and you can t blame that just on obstructionist republicans. there s a lack of leadership here. i think he s got to realize it. i heard part of that speech, joe. it was very deliberative. it was written. it was not the old obama. it was like he was sitting there just reading the thing. yeah. norah, it is so hard after you get into the white house and things are flying at you, but you have to keep that game face on. you have to stay optimistic. and right now it s got to be especially tough, because i know you hear it every day, i hear it, my god, in washington, i have been struck by everywhere i go, everybody saying the same thing. that gel b said last week. this white house, they don t seem to know what they re doing. campaigning tends to be easier than governing. i think what the president did was defer to congress. and now, ironically, he s going
game and trying to create a political event. andrea mitchell? chuck, what about the fact that the republicans didn t have a whole lot of time to plan for the house caucus meeting with the president. and it wasn t the leadership, per se. yes, you saw mike pence and some of the other leaders. but it was also just rank-and-file members going back and forth with the president. and you know, there was more spontaneity about it. but what you re going to see today around the table are the leaders who have entrenched positions that they have to defend. that s right. and you know, none of the republicans that were invited by the republican leadership are ones that you would assume that would work with the white house. right, notice olympia snowe didn t get invited. she didn t want to look like a pawn of the white house. one can understand why she backed off. i think that in itself set the tone that republicans assume
pat, you re winning the debate. i think pat drives a mercedes. that s a long time ago. 1990, michigan primary thing up. not since 1992, my friend. what about it? if it s so important, why put it off until 2018? why not tack it will now? look, joe, understand this. there are a number of cost-saving measures that are in this bill because everybody is right that we do have to change the amount of money that we re spending on health care. because right now we re spending twice as much as every other industrialized economy. but not seeing a different output because of it. look, this is, this is something that has been quite frankly, supported more on the right than on the left. but what we have is a sensible plan that taxes insurance companies, if they continue to offer policies that are greatly in excess of what, of what people need. all right.
