It doesn’t matter if you were young or old you remember the visit by the Royal Family to Kapuskasing or you were told about it. Prince Phillip died today at the age of 99. It was October of 1951 when the Royal Couple Princess Elizabeth and Prince Phillip visited the Model Town as part of a 33 day cross-country visit. They stayed at the Kap Inn in what would later be called the Princess Room. Prince Phillip toured the Spruce Falls mill that was owned by Kimberly Clark and the New York Times. The couple flew to Canada for the trip instead of taking a ship which previous members of the Royal Family had done over the years.
