Helen Moren leads annual convention of GFWC WV
BETHANY The General Federation of Women’s Clubs West Virginia 115th-annual convention was held March 19-20 at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., with GFWC President Helen Moren of Bethany presiding.
The theme of the virtual conference was “Change Makes A Difference.” The project was “Opioid Crisis/Drug Abuse.”
The meeting was called to order by Moren and Dusty Smith, GFWC WV director of junior clubs. The inspiration was offered by Diana Durst of Weirton, GFWC WV health and wellness chairman. Tina Lambert led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The preliminary report of credentials was given by Lisa Lineberry; Barbara Henry, GFWC WV parliamentarian, read the convention rules; and Georgianna Tillis, state meeting planner, presented the convention program.

Easter Egg hunt Saturday in East Springfield
EAST SPRINGFIELD The East Springfield Communuity Center will be hosting an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m. It will include prizes. The center is located on county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department.

WELLSBURG The Wellsburg Baseball and Softball Association will be holding its second Purse Bash, an auction for 15 designer handbags, on April 10 at the Wellsburg Banquet Hall.
Doors will open at 1 p.m. for the auction, which will occur at 8 p.m. and will be livestreamed on the group’s Facebook page. Chances are $20 each, with tickets available there and in advance at Tommy’s Classic Touch. There will be a Chinese auction from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. that day, with tickets for it also available from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. there on April 9.

Littlejohn to be guest speaker at special Quinn church service
STEUBENVILLE Quinn Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church, 515 N. Fifth St., will wrap up its observance of Black History Month on Sunday with Jonathan Littlejohn as the finale in a series of special speakers for the church’s 11 a.m. Livestream Online or Zoom service.
A graduate of Steubenville High School, Littlejohn is the son of Vickie Littlejohn, a retired educator, and Edward Sr., a real estate developer. As Jonathan learned the business ethics of his family, he always wanted to become a businessman and open his own business, a church committee member explained.
