Bagg Brook Heritage Trail a step toward ‘central park’ in West Springfield

WEST SPRINGFIELD Although it’s been one of the town’s signature recreation facilities for more than a year, the Bagg Brook Heritage Trail had to wait until Friday for its official dedication.
In a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on the nature path next to the Morgan Road Pavilion, officials said the three-quarter-mile loop has already proven popular with hikers of all ages, dog owners and participants in Park and Recreation Department events. It’s also part of a long-term vision for additional recreational facilities in the center of West Springfield, on several town-owned properties between Amostown and Morgan roads, west of Piper Road.
