Springfield s Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport will receive more than a million dollars in relief money that was earmarked for it and other airports in the December round of economic stimulus passed by Congress.
The airport will receive $1,069,849 to help with continuing operations at the facility during the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infusion of money will help with sanitation and prevention of pathogen spread at the airport, in addition to providing assistance with debt service payments, support for personnel as well as boosting cleaning and janitorial services.
In a statement, 18th Congressional District Rep. Darin LaHood, R-Peoria, said providing airports such as Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport with funding would help get them through the pandemic without too much damage from the loss of foot traffic.
