The Los Angeles “Super-Spreader Taskforce” arrested nearly 200 people in a massive operation over the weekend, aimed at curbing underground parties authorities warned could further fuel the recent surge in COVID-19 cases across California.
An underage girl, considered to be a sexually exploited child, was rescued, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said, and six weapons were recovered.
The department has targeted a number of large underground parties, with partygoers accused of violating L.A. County coronavirus health orders by attending the parties.
