unfortunately mistakenly think they can sit in front of the computer and do what s called the spray and pray method which is you spray your resume out there and apply to anything and everything online and pray that the phone rings and sadly, it doesn t. if you re going to spend time online the job boards are okay but should just be a small amount of time. the bulk of the online time it should be spent instead of applying pour fogses, engaging with people. use social networks, facebook, linked-in, twitter. showcasing your expertise and building your personal brand in the area you re looking for work. many times it s through those connections that you wind up finding your next employer. in addition to that, it s important to get off the internet and get out of your house. i think too many people stay inside because they re not sure where to go or what to do. there s so many networking events. they re afraid am i going to do a cold call or knock on doors? i don t even know if they have
