there are parts of mueller s case that are still in motion. there is a company unnamed owned by a sovereign government unnamed that has been fighting a subpoena. there s an associate fighting a subpoena who said he s been informed the mueller people want him to testify before a grand jury. there s a trial set for roger stone. someone s going to have to prau prosecute him and a whole bunch of statuses hearings. no sentence for rick gates. kilimnik is still on the lamb. what do you make off all the loose ends as the special counsel s office has apparently concluded? what i know about bob mueller is he s not a loose ends kind of guy. what does that mean now? it means he had a strategy. he s got the plan. he s worked out the loose ends
manager. he lost the most visible and important confrontation of his presidency in negotiating with house speaker nancy pelosi over the government shutdown. michael gerson goes onto catalog claims by candidate trump that had been proven untrue including the claim of being a self-made billionaire. and the claim that he hires the best people. gerson writes, no one can reasonably claim to believe in trump s brand as it was sold in 2016. we have plumbed the shallows of his boasts. they are refuted lies. and whatever else the president may be, he is a fraud. the op-ed piece which ran just above michael gerson s op-ed page stresses the complete collapse of candidate trump s prau promises to coal miners about the coal administration. trump has blamed obama administration regulation, but
criticism of mr. trump in a new year s day op-ed in the washington post. that raised questions about whether he will vocally oppose the white house. add that to the speculation that romney might challenge the president in 2020. but the gallup poll shows president trump s approval rating among republicans stands at 88%. the second highest in recent history for a president at the middle of his term. back again with the panel, let me grab a quote from the romney op-ed in the washington post. here s part of what now senator romney wrote. to a great degree a presidency shapes the public character of the nation. a president should unite us and inspire us to follow our better angels. he goes on to write, with a nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential qualities are indispensable and in this prau province where the incumbent s shortfall is most glaring.
ivanka trump praised owe prau on twitter, saying let s all come together. is that the message from the white house, the support of this movement? well, the message from the white houose is that everyone should come together. you saw a great example of the president s focus on that and leadership in the effort by bringing democrats and republicans together to talk about a very contentious issue, one that s gone on for years. the debate has never ended in real solutions. we are trying to move it forward, whether immigration or a number of other issues. the president showing his leadership on that front. we will continue to look for ways to bring the country together. having been on the campaign of a political outsider, what advice to you give to oprah as an outsider? i m not going to focus on anyone s campaign other than president trump s ree likes. if she decides to run, which i think the president doesn t feel
