Herring Bay bag limits increased

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Starting June 1, the sport king salmon bag and possession limit for all anglers in the terminal waters of Herring Bay is increased to three king salmon of any size, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s Sport Fish Division. The Herring Bay Terminal Harvest Area limits will be in effect through July 31. King salmon harvested in the terminal harvest area won’t count toward the nonresident annual limit, according to a Sport Fish Division announcement. The Herring Bay terminal harvest area includes the water of Herring Bay west of a line from the southernmost entrance of Hole-In-The-Wall harbor to the department’s markers (signed and painted rocks) located one-half mile north of Whitman Creek, to the fresh/saltwater boundary signs located at the mouth of Herring Cove Creek.
