SRC offers Pharmacy Tech Program in Macomb

MACOMB The Spoon River College Office of Community Outreach is offering a Pharmacy Technician Program in Macomb this Fall. This affordable 12 week program prepares students for a career as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital setting. Classes will be held Wednesday Evenings, August 25th –November 17th from 6-10pm at the Spoon River College Macomb Outreach Center. In Illinois, obtaining a state license allows people to work as a pharmacy tech for two years. After two years, they are required to become certified by passing a national exam, administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This program at SRC will provide students with the basic skills necessary for an entry level career as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting. MACOMB MidAmerica National Bank has announced they will hold their annual Community Shred Day in Macomb on Saturday, July 10th from 9:00 am to Noon in the parking lot of Spoon River College’s Community Outreach Center at 2500 East Jackson Street. This event is free to the public.
“We are very excited about Shred Day,” stated Jim Gillam, Community Shred Day Coordinator. “It’s a great opportunity for us to help our community dispose of their confidential documents so they’ll have peace of mind that all their documents have been safely shredded and recycled.”

During the school year, students learned about the many avenues of the business world. Bushnell Prairie-City junior, Devin Suggitt, said building a business plan was crucial for class success, but CEO also helped him build on personal skills.
“Don’t be afraid to reach out for help,” Suggitt said. “For a while I was very prideful and hated asking for help, but this program has made me realize that there are people there to help with whatever I need.”
