This week on Radiogram, the Mendocino College Online Repertory Theatre presents Spoon River Anthology. During the pandemic the actors of the “ORT” managed to produce a full fall semester of online video performances in 2020. The ensemble is made up of college theatre students and members of the local theater community. RadioGram will feature their performance of Spoon River Anthology, and a conversation with director Reid Edelman and some of the actors about making theater during covid. The Old Rochester Regional High School Drama Club put on a remote version of Spoon River Anthology which streamed live on Dec. 5 and 6.
Actors looked toward each other’s screens to convey interaction in the play.
The play shifted to a set that looked similar to Zoom, but Sherburne said that any commentary on the current flood of communication by video call was merely out of necessity.
The show must go on.
The Old Rochester Regional High School Drama club spent months of long, cold nights rehearsing Spoon River Anthology for an outdoor rendition of the play, which is a collection of monologues given from beyond the grave.
