Comelec/MB Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said from 84,000, they are planning to increase the polling precincts to 100,000 or more. “There will be more precincts now than before because of the increase in our voting population. Plus, we have a (COVID-19) pandemic so we don’t want crowding,” he said in an online forum Friday, July 2. “Before, we have about 84,000 clustered precincts. Now, our estimate is we will be having 100,000 to 105,000,” added Jimenez. He said there will be approximately 800 voters per precinct. “The registered voters in 2019 was 61 million. Now, we are already at 60 million,” Jimenez said.
