Officials to apply for state loan to fund upgrades at Jackson wastewater treatment plant Updated May 12, 2021; Facebook Share JACKSON, MI – The city of Jackson is moving ahead with plans to overhaul its wastewater treatment plant, with capital improvement projects planned for the nearly century-old facility. The Jackson City Council approved a resolution at its Tuesday, May 11 virtual meeting that supports applying for a state-backed loan to fund the project’s design and construction. The city will apply for a Michigan Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan to fund the renovations, for an estimated $6.44 million. Related: The estimated increase to the annual sewer budget associated with the loan is $390,000. A user rate increase of 4% is anticipated, according to city officials. That’s about $8.66 annually for someone who discharges 1,800 cubic feet of wastewater per quarter.
