Okay. Amy thank you. Now, to the developing story for the second time in a week and on the same mountain, two people were trapped on a steep ledge more than 250 over the ground. News competenter was seen her trying to get those two people down. Kemberly richardson has been to the scene. Kemberly, whats happening now . Reporter well diana, in the end, this was a success. The same High Angle Rescue Team who is out in this park on a 911 call last week just wrapped up that operation. As you can imagine, 3 people not the trio ended up trying to climb up the side of a cliff off the mountain. And they winded up getting stuck on a plateau 250 up. The terrain around them was extremely treacherous. The group was in no way, shape, or form prepared for hiking. The signs warning people to stay on the phras
But the three scouts with him are not hurt. The attack happened around noon at Split Rock Reservoir in rockaway township, morris county. Stephan kim is there with the breaking details. Reporter well, joe and lauren, take a look down this road. This attack occurred at the bottom of this windy road about a half mile from here by the road. First responders have set up in search of the victim. It took them several hours to locate this victim. Meanwhile, residents living around here by the reservoir are absolutely startled by this attack. Were shocked. We hike here all the time. Reporter residents living by the Split Rock Reservoir in rockaway, new jersey shaken by what happened. A bear attacked four people in the woods, injuring a male adult, a boy leading three scouts around noon. Luckily, the children were unharmed. By 3 30, the victim was found and rushed to a nearby hospital by a state police helicopter. He was wrapped from head to toe, loaded onto the chopper on a stretcher. Residents
Couldnt get down. He was able to call 911. Rescuers came out here and using hopes, they dropped ropes and some warm jackets and helmets down to the two young them down. We just decided to claim. It was just unsafe to continue or come back down. So you were stuck, couldnt go either way . Not really. Our friend made it, but we couldnt. Reporter she declined to give her name. Last monday, a hiker fell off a similar spot inside this park. He became wedged between a tree and the side of the mountain and was stuck there, injured and in shock for about three hours. Back here live, this is the rescue crew. Again, all three people safely off the side of this mountain. They are a little cold. The trio, as im told and as i saw, was in no way, shape or form to be hiking out here in the mountains.
