ZAGREB, 16 February (Hina) – A HRK 42 million (€5.5 million) project of rebuilding the East Coast in the City of Split was officially launched on Tuesday.
The revamping and upgrade of the waterfront, built 150 years ago, will be financed with HRK 39 million from the European Union’s funds while the Croatian government is to contribute HRK 6.4 million.
The implementation of the project will expand the East Coast to 1,400 square metres, which will improve the flow of passengers and passers-by.
The project envisages the construction of four berths for catamarans. According to data from the Split Port Authority, from 2016 to 2019, the number of passengers aboard catamarans increased by 60%.
