Goondu review: The Medium
Gaming
From Polish game developer Bloober Team of Blair Witch and Layers of Fear fame, comes The Medium – a third-person psychological horror adventure game about a medium, Marianne, who can traverse between the material and the spirit world.
The Medium is a short, heavily story-driven game which can be completed in less than 10 hours, although I felt the game can be made more concise as parts of the game felt unnecessarily draggy. Gameplay is mostly focused on puzzle solving in both worlds, and manipulating objects in one world can affect the other.
I stumbled upon The Medium by chance on the Xbox Series X since it is a newly released game that is offered free with the Xbox Game Pass.
The water pump station puzzle in The Medium is the final major conundrum to solve. It is arguably the most convoluted of the puzzles in Bloober Team’s psychological horror title, but you won’t have any issues with it with our help.
After you escape The Maw, follow a linear path around the station until you reach the control room. Before you do anything, press the button next to the locked door on your left. This will make it easier to traverse the station.
Head out of the unlocked door and follow the path until you enter a room with the number one on a pillar, which you can see on the screen above. Take the path in front of you through a door to the Central Chamber. Take a right along this walkway and grab some Spirit Energy from the Spirit Well in this room.

Death is everywhere here. You can feel it. You can
smell it. I know that makes no sense - how can you tell that from a video game? - and yet you
know that s what it smells like, a muddy, earthy, cloying scent that sticks in your throat as you tiptoe across the razor-thin edge between Here and There. Light and shadow. Life and death.

Availability: Out January 28th on Xbox Series S, Series X and PC
Fungus blooms everywhere and doorways quiver, blanketed with a thick, terrible, alien skin. Later, arms will hang down from the ceilings and shattered bones will jut out of the ground. Later still, the entire world will be soaked in a blood-red filter as you scramble up mountains of paperwork and giant, haphazard filing cabinets.

Exclusive games are, for some, the deciding factor between getting one console over the other.
Sony have offered a star-studded line-up of exclusive AAA titles to get people virtually queuing up in the early hours of the morning to order a PS5. On the other hand, Microsoft have left us dismayed with their only launch exclusive, Halo Infinite, being delayed meaning that Xbox only had jazzed up versions of Xbox One exclusives to entice gamers to buy one of their next-gen consoles.
Now, three months from launch Xbox finally has its first notable exclusive; The Medium.
