The organ’s first career
In 1951 New Haven’s Church of the Redeemer, founded in 1838, moved into a neo-colonial structure designed by prominent local architect Douglas Orr. The new church was located in the city’s East Rock neighborhood and quickly took its place among Orr’s other distinguished buildings that remain popular to the present day.

A UK-based manufacturer of gas- and air-handling services has acquired Spencer Turbine of Windsor.
Howden Group Limited, a portfolio company of KPS Capital Partners, purchased Spencer Turbine from Alliance Holdings of Horsham, Pa., for an undisclosed sum, the companies announced.
Spencer, which has been in business since 1892, was previously acquired by Alliance in 2007.
Spencer makes gas and air handling equipment with sales primarily in the U.S. and China. It employs over 90 people at its Windsor location.
