Disaster readiness training helps medical students practice stills

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Local medical students are testing their skills to be ready if disaster strikes.
Students from the Wisconsin Academy for Rural Medicine teamed up with Gundersen Health System staff and area rescue teams for training.
The skills could help save the lives of their neighbors.
“Not only do we have an increasing elderly population in these areas,” said medical student Spencer Treu. “We have young people actively moving away. So you start to see this discrepancy and who is going to care for these people.”
