Bay Circuit Trail: Hike through Appleton Farms, Plum Island Beach end

2:11 am UTC Jul. 12, 2021 Leg 27, Nov. 29, 2020: Boxford to Georgetown For the third consecutive Sunday, we are back on the trail, hiking this time through Boxford horse country and into leaf-covered Georgetown Rowley State Forest. This stretch included a little bit of everything – from quiet woods and historic neighborhoods to old reservoirs, a new boardwalk and a World War I encampment. We started in Lockwood Forest and traveled north along the Nancy Merrill Trail to Fish Brook, a part of the Ipswich River that empties into the Atlantic Ocean near our ultimate destination – Plum Island. Above the remnants of an old mill, a small dam holds back a small reservoir system that bordered horse farms.

Firehouse Center for the Arts theater returns with RENT

Carol Feingold/Correspondent Live musical theater is back with the Firehouse Center for the Arts production of the rock musical “RENT,” opening at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm on Friday, May 14, and running through Sunday, May 23. “RENT” is a rock musical with music, lyrics, and book by Jonathan Larson, loosely based on Giacomo Puccini’s 1896 opera “La Bohème.” It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in Lower Manhattan s East Village in the thriving days of bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. “It’s the 25th anniversary of the show opening on Broadway,” said John Moynihan, Firehouse Center for the Arts Executive Director. “It’s a show that touches upon so many relevant factors today. The struggles of the artist have never been more relevant than right now. There’s still the feeling of isolation and the reunifying factor of friends a family.”
