The Spencer Parks Department has received initial concepts for a new splash pad, campground and a set of updates to the city aquatic center.
Engineers with Bolton and Menk presented their initial designs to the Spencer Parks Board during its regular meeting on Dec. 12. Combined, the three projects could cost more than $11 million, according to estimates provided by Bolton Menk.

Spencer Parks Board Talks Rules For Electric Vehicles & YMCA Agreement

Spencer, IA (KICD) Tuesday evening, the Spencer Parks Board met to discuss creating a set of rules for electric bikes, segways, and more on park trails. Parks Director Jared Elbert says they put together rules that follow state code.
The board also talked about the YMCA agreement for the playground program and aquatic center. Elbert says they will be saving between $12,000 to $15,000 due to an hour cut.
Elbert says all other details of the YMCA agreement have remained the same.

Spencer, IA (KICD) The Spencer Parks Board held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss possible changes to trail rules regarding electric and motorized vehicles. Parks & Recreation Director Jared Elbert says they are looking at speed limits, capacities, and more.
Elbert says electric bikes and scooters are becoming more popular in bigger cities, and they’re starting to see that popularity transfer over into Spencer. He also says they are currently looking at rules and creating a draft regarding the changes.
