Kota Kinabalu: An employer of a car wash was fined a total of RM40,000 for hiring four illegal immigrants.
Kang Teik Hong pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to the charge against him on Tuesday.
The court ordered Kang to pay a fine of RM10,000 or three months’ jail for each of the illegal immigrant.

Kang had employed the three Filipinos and an Indonesian, aged 21 to 48, who have no valid passes, at the Speedy Car Wash in Putatan, on Feb 25, 2020.
The offence, under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, provides for a fine of between RM10,000 and RM50,000 or up to a year’s jail, or both, on conviction.
