Giants pitcher Logan Webb grew up an A’s fan, so he thinks it’s nifty that his pitching coach is former A’s closer Andrew Bailey.
Not to mention his throwing partner in the offseason was Sean Doolittle.
“I know Bailey was texting him all offseason checking in on me and asking how I’m doing . instead of texting me,” Webb said with a chuckle.
Giants Kevin Gausman has a blueprint to surprise Dodgers, Padres

Kevin Gausman, the Giants’ best starting pitcher, isn’t afraid of the big, bad Dodgers or Padres.
The class of the National League West, if not all of the majors, the reigning champion Dodgers and reinforced Padres are expected to blow away the competition in the division, leaving only a battle for third place.
Gausman sees it another way. The right-hander referenced his first six seasons in Baltimore when the Yankees and Red Sox dominated the American League East.
“They would beat up on each other in a three- or four-game series on the weekend, and we would come to town and sneak away taking two of three from them,” Gausman said.
Giants starter Johnny Cueto, 35, feels like a kid 2-plus years after surgery

No one is quite sure what to expect from
Johnny Cueto this season, but the Giants’ right-hander is another year removed from Tommy John surgery and said Wednesday that he’s feeling great.
“As a matter of fact,” Cueto said, “I feel like a kid.”
Cueto, who turned 35 on Monday, struggled in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, going 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA in 12 starts. But just getting those appearances offered a base for this year, and now he hopes the training wheels are off. He thought limited work last season didn’t allow him to be his best, even if it was done for precautionary reasons as he continued to come back from his 2018 elbow ligament replacement. The team also requested he not pitch during winter ball in the Dominican Republic to give his arm more rest.
