President Muhammadu Buhari may have ordered a thorough probe of allegations of wide-spread corruption in the Police Service Commission (PSC), by senior Police Officers.
In a series of petitions, the Senior Police Officers are alleging that the Police Service Commission, which is headed by a former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, may have circumvented both Police and Civil Service rules in the recent consideration and promotions of some Police Officers across the country to the ranks Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner (DCP).
The President is said to be particularly miffed by the recurring allegations that the promotion exercise by the PSC was heavily influenced by financial inducements and crass nepotism.
