Helen Susan Johnson with her family from left Maddison Isaac, 10, Olivia Isaac, 7, daughter Keri-Anne Johnson, McKenzie Isaac, 4, and Jack Isaac, 11. Johnson has been volunteering for Special Olympics Manawatū ever since, as co-ordinator and secretary. She squeezes in about 10 hours a week of volunteering on top of 40 hours of paid work at Mana Whaikaha, a disability support system for the MidCentral District Health Board. “I don’t sleep,” she said, laughing. Johnson said the award was a reflection on the good work all volunteers did. “They all do a wonderful job and I’m just part of that.”
