BJP’s Baghmara MLA, Dhullu Mahto, got a breather on Tuesday after the special MP/MLA court here acquitted him in a case related to attempted rape after all witnesses, including the complainant and her husband, turned hostile.
The Court ordered that an independent tab be created on the High Court’s website providing information about the details of number of cases pending against the MP and MLA, the year of filing, stage of proceedings etc.
Rakesh Sharma, a resident of Halpura under Kotwali Shikarpur, had lodged a complaint against Pandit in 2011 and accused him of demanding money and threatening him (Sharma) with fake encounter by police because he also wanted to contest the election from Dibai constituency and canvassed against Guddu Pandit.
Former BJP MLA Umesh Malik has been convicted by a special MP/MLA court here for violation of the model code of conduct. Special Judge Mayank Jaiswal on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on Malik.
