A year ago, the world came to an abrupt stop.  The majority of U.S. schools switched to remote learning as the coronavirus made its way through communities. On the heels of the one-year anniversary of school closures, Gov. Gavin Newsom is pushing districts to return to in-person learning.  The governor is offering financial incentives for districts that bring select grades back to campus. Despite a statewide push to innoculate, not all Monterey County educators have completed or even started their COVID-19 vaccination process. The county opened vaccine appointments to the education sector on March 3. A Monterey County district says it will forego state-issued reopening funds in order to ensure the safety and health of families and staff.
