addressed. they say that hillary clinton was not available to do the sunday shows, essentially bad luck for susan rice to be the one to go out there with the best available talking points at the time. these were talking points that came from the cia that were what the administration says was their best understanding of the situation at the time and that they didn t realize that the talking points were wrong until later and, you know hillary clinton essentially dodged a bullet by not being the one to do that, and i ve been told by people who have been involved in the process, who were there at the time, that this was pretty standard practice. somebody would ask for clinton. if she s was unavailable susan rice was the backup. yeah well, it didn t quite work out well that way. secretary clinton has agreed to testify publicly before a special committee on benghazi and on that point a group of political insiders from both iowa and new hampshire were polled and 75% of democrats and 58%, a
is over. but i m going to disrupt that narrative. how can the tea party really be losing when trey gowdy is heading up a special committee on benghazi and darrell issa is still running loose in the capitol? sure, the establishment struck back, but they did so by moving farther to the right, signing on to what one writer referred to as a myriad of, quote, right-wing articles of faith. now, speaker boehner talked about this new cozy relationship. listen, there s not that big a difference between what y all call the tea party and your average conservative republican. even freedomworks jumped on the bandwagon. in a statement from freedomworks president, he said, quote, matt bevin s principled challenge helped senator mcconnell rediscover his conservative principles come november. competition always breeds stronger candidates and there is an improved conservative candidate heading into the general election as a result. so, as the establishment winners, like mcconnell, now
majority. so do we have it suggesting that the centerpiece is here to stay? we ll see if that position lasts, but maybe there s some movement there at least. sabrina, i think we re seeing that in a lot of races where they re trying to walk that fine line, knowing that people in kentucky like what s going on in kentucky, but still trying to use the mien of, anti-obamacare, but appealing to t base. they have to unify the party around some of these bigger ticket items. whether it s obamacare repeal or the benghazi committee reducing taxes, reducing the size of government, those are issues where the republican party broadly agrees they are, of course, overwhelmingly pro-life. and i think that in november, they have an advantage. they do have an off year elections, a turnout advantage and they know that. the house is, of course, going to remain within the republican s fold and the senate races are being contested in deeply conservative states.
cnn report and the year anniversary, something was going to happen, conveniently it is congressional recess. i think you ll see more revelations and developments coming out from the administration and what s interesting about the politics of this is that there is not a mood on capitol hill for moving to a special committee on benghazi. darrell issa wants to do the job he is doing, thinks he is doing it well. what s interesting about the cnn you mean among leadership. there are definitely members pushing it. exactly, among the decision makers. there is a group of rank and file that s been very focused on benghazi all along. what s interesting about cnn sitting down with the suspect last week is that that really grew the interest in the subject beyond the people that have been so focused on it, and if that movement begins to build, and rank and file puts more pressure on leadership, perhaps in the fall, depending the response the administration gives to the question of as you s
