At least one person has been reported dead while over 200 residential buildings were destroyed by a heavy rainstorm at Ita-Ogbolu in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. It was learnt that the storm, which followed the first rain of the year in the community, wreaked havoc in the community, according to Daily Trust. Meanwhile, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed shock at the level of damage done by the rain in the community, while he sympathised with the family members of the woman, who lost her life in the tragic incident.

A lawyer, Mr Femi Emmanuel Emodamori has asked the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to grant financial autonomy to the State House of Assembly and the Judiciary as enshrined in the the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended). Emodamori who made the call in a press statement issued on Thursday criticised the habitual ridicule of the constitutionally guaranteed financial autonomy and integrity of State Houses of Assembly by the state executive arm.
