A jobs training program targeted to low- and middle-income individuals, providing tuition free community college, passed the House of Delegates on Thursday.
The Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back – G3 – initiative backed by House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn would promote job training in targeted industries such as health care and information technology to skilled trades, public safety, and early childhood education.

A judge in Virginia ordered a permanent ban on accepting ballots without postmarks after Election Day.
In a consent order dated January 13, 2021, signed by Judge William W. Eldridge IV, Presiding Judge of the Frederick County Circuit Court, the Virginia Board of Elections agreed to revise their regulations to bring them into compliance with Virginia law.
The lawsuit was brought by Frederick County Electoral Board member Thomas Reed. According to a statement from the attorney in the case, “This consent decree gives Mr. Reed everything he requested – a permanent ban on accepting ballots without postmarks after Election Day, and is a loss for the Virginia bureaucrats who said ballots could come in without these protections.”
He’s got some … er, interesting positions. Most notable is that on his website, he calls himself “pro-life” and then does a very interesting tightrope walk focusing entirely on third trimester abortions (incredibly rare as we all know), which might not make sense until you compare it to what he said on Facebook in December 2019:
“I believe abortion is a fundamental right that a woman has but that right should be limited to a period of time in the early phases of pregnancy.”
He also interestingly says on his website that “gun owners across Virginia overwhelmingly stand with Tim Anderson as the 2A candidate.” In 2019 he said that

RICHMOND, Va. (CN) Only hours before a sitting Virginia state senator died of Covid-19, another state senator called the opening of a public space at the state’s upcoming legislative session, otherwise closed because of the ongoing pandemic, a “huge victory.”
“The decision to close the Pocahontas Building was a clear violation of the First Amendment and communicated an eagerness by Senator Locke and Speaker Filler-Corn, and the Northam administration to shut out public input in the legislative process,” state Senator Bill DeSteph said in a statement Friday evening.
